HAMMOND —Detectives with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into the death of a Hammond-area nursery owner’s wife, Sheriff Daniel Edwards said Thursday.
Deputies responded to a 911 call from Vic Alvarez, owner of Alvarez Nursery on Morrison Boulevard, around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Alvarez had found his wife, Mary Alvarez, 71, fatally injured at the shop, Edwards said.
The Sheriff’s Office has declined to comment on the cause of death, pending results of an autopsy.
