The Plaquemine Garden Club has announced its Garden of the Month winners for September and October.
The home of the Derrossic Allen family, 57730 Haase St., won the September award. Allen was injured several years ago and had to surrender his yard to his uncle, Horris Lee, who landscaped the grassed lot with boxwood hedges and orange canna lilies. Accenting the flower beds are urns and a birdbath surrounded by a rainbow of periwinkles that ranged from white to hot pink.
Ardie and Jamie Persick, 24400 Sherwood Drive, won the October award. Roses line the driveway, accompanied by a carpet of white periwinkles, framed by dark green and pink caladiums. Two decorative urns draped in variegated ginger welcome guests into the home.
