‘Coats for Kids’
You know what they say: Children grow; coats don’t.
WHAT: WBRZ will host ‘Pack the Pod,’ a major collection day for ‘Pat’s Coats for Kids’ drive.
WHEN: Tuesday with updates throughout the day during the WBRZ broadcasts.
WHERE: The Wal-Mart on College Drive in Baton Rouge.

DETAILS: The drive — for needy children in Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. Mary, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes — continues through Saturday. New or clean used child- and adult-size coats may be dropped off at any location of the YMCA of the Capital Area, Neighbors Federal Credit Union, EMR or Coldwell Banker One. Make monetary donations at the website, or mail a check made out to Pat’s Coats for Kids to WBRZ, 1650 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
Both older pets and older humans are expected to benefit from this campaign.
WHAT: Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge is offering special adoption rates to encourage the adoption of older pets and adoption by older residents.
WHEN: The program runs through Nov. 30. Office hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday through Sunday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

INFORMATION: (225) 774-7701.DETAILS: During the Celebrating Seniors campaign, adoption fees will be $25 when adopting a senior animal (ages 5 and older) or when the adopting person is a senior (age 55 or older). Adoptions will be free when both a senior adopter adopts a senior pet. Animals are spayed or neutered, micro chipped and updated on vaccinations. The alliance also has a new policy of not charging someone older than 65 who adopts a senior animal.
