The combined choirs of Dutchtown, East Ascension and St. Amant High Schools performed Nov. 13 at the Gonzales Civic Center for the Gonzales Mayor’s Annual Prayer Breakfast.
The event, hosted by Mayor Barney Arceneaux and the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Committee, featured guest speaker Paul Rainwater, chief of staff for Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Nearly 60 students from the schools combined for a performance of “American Trilogy,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Praise His Holy Name.” B.J. Bertucci, Cathy Elisar, and Erin Perdue directed the group.
Amy Laviolette, a student teacher attending LSU, also helped students learn their songs.
“It is so wonderful to have the three schools come together and sing together as one group,” Elisar said in a new release.” The community loves it.”
The schools also recently performed together at the Veteran’s Day ceremony where more than 60 students volunteered on a Sunday to honor veterans.
