AUGUSTA, Ga. — LSU sophomore Brad Wing has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to the top punter in college football, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday.
The 10 semifinalists were chosen from a field of 69 candidates for the award. Wing is one of three Southeastern Conference punters up for the honor, joining Florida’s Kyle Cristy and Auburn’s Steven Clark.
Wing, a 2011 first-team All-American, has averaged 44.5 yards per punt this season with 15 punts more than 50 yards. Wing has placed 15 punts inside the 20-yard line. Against Alabama, Wing averaged 49.0 yards on four punts with two inside the 20 and one for 64 yards.
For his career, Wing is the LSU career record holder in punting average with 44.4 yards. The winner will be announced at the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Dec. 6.
