Initial claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana increased for the week ending Nov. 3 to 2,602 from the previous week’s 2,568.
For the comparable week a year earlier, ending Nov. 5, 2011, the figure was 3,678, the Louisiana Workforce Commission reported Friday.
The four-week moving average of initial claims, a less volatile measurement, fell to 2,743 from the previous week’s average of 2,855.
Continued unemployment weeks claimed for the week ending Nov. 3 decreased to 30,304 from the previous week’s 30,530. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 30,626 from the previous week’s 30,935.
