Ann Fletcher swept the competition in the pies category of the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair’s annual Pies, Jams & Jellies competition on Oct. 28, taking first, second and third places for her entries, State Fair officials said.
Fletcher won first place for her crème brûlée pie, second for her coconut cream pie, and third for her sweet potato surprise pie.
In the jams category, Drew White took first place with a strawberry jam.
Second place went to Susan Darbonne for her pear honey jam and third place to Cathy Taylor for her figs jam.
Ray “Cappy” Robin won first place in the jellies category with a lemon jelly while Joyce Cooper was awarded second place with a muscadine jelly and third place for her crabapple jelly.
Judges were Carolyn McKnight, of BREC; Johnny Ahysen, WAFB-TV; Paul Arrigo, of Visit Baton Rouge: and Beth Colvin, The Advocate’s assistant food editor.
