Loranger claims share of district title; U-High crushes Redemptorist

LORANGER — Jeryl Brazil ran for 248 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns as Loranger, the fifth-ranked team in Class 3A, earned a share of the District 8-3A championship with an 18-10 win over Jewel Sumner to highlight the final night of the prep regular season on Friday.

Brazil, an LSU commitment, threw a 12-yard scoring pass to Javeon Francis and a 44-yard TD pass to Jake Ingraffia. Loranger (8-2, 4-1) also scored on a 35-yard interception return by Cody Smith as the Wolves finished tied with Bogalusa for the championship.

Brandon Tynes scored on a 70-yard kickoff return for Sumner (5-4, 3-2).

UNIVERSITY 49, REDEMPTORIST 0: Nick Brossette ran for 15, 58 and 29-yard touchdowns as third-ranked University High (9-1, 5-0) wrapped up the District 7-2A title.

Nik Kragthorpe threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Zach Aguillar and an 18-yarder to D’Vante Dotson. Jarrod Franklin and Beau Bankston also scored for the Cubs.

Redemptorist ended the season 0-9 and 0-5 in district.

CARENCRO 40, SULPHUR 26: In Sulphur, Galen Carter ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns as Carencro (5-4) improved to 4-2 in District 3-5A.

Cedric Richardson passed for one touchdown and ran for another as the Bears scored 26 points in the second half to put the game away.

Kale Breaux passed for 238 yards and two touchdowns for Sulphur (4-6, 2-4).

LIVONIA 49, PORT BARRE 13: In Livonia, Ben Todd and Kerry Savoy each threw and ran for touchdowns as Livonia (8-2), the sixth-ranked team in Class 3A, improved to 3-2 in District 5-3A. Marquis Beauvois added 5- and 9-yard scoring runs for Livonia.

D’Angelo Van Allen and Judith Sylvestor scored for Port Barre (1-9, 0-5).

BREAUX BRIDGE 45, NORTHSIDE 12: In Breaux Bridge, Derrick Williams ran for 101 yards on 19 carries and scored on 10 and 7-yard runs as Breaux Bridge (7-3,3-2) locked up third place in District 5-4A.

Lane Landry threw a 33-yard TD pass to Aaron Lastrapes and an 18-yard strike to Demontreal Babineaux.

Shakieir Ryan threw a pair of touchdown passes to Chris Ozene Jr. for Northside (4-6, 2-3).

WESTMINSTER 62, OPELOUSAS CATHOLIC 14: In Opelousas, Luke Judice threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Westminster Christian Academy (8-2), the ninth-ranked team in Class 1A, finished 6-1 in District 6-1A.

Westminster jumped out to an early 14-0 lead on an 80-yard pass from Judice to Hayden Marze and a 1-yard run by Donyell Young. After a 1-yard run by Opelousas Catholic’s T.J. Venable cut the lead to 14-7, Westminster cored the next 27 points on two scoring runs by Wesley Bellard, a 24-yard scoring pass from Judice to Jalen Williams and a 2-yard Judice run. Williams also scored on an 85-yard interception return.

Opelousas Catholic dropped to 6-4 and 3-4.

NORTH VERMILION 15, KAPLAN 9: Trey Broussard kicked 38, 35 and 30-yard field goals and Taylor Abshire scored on a 5-yard run as North Vermilion (7-3, 5-1) earned a share of the District 9-3A championship.

Kaplan (7-3), which came into the game with a 5-0 district record, could only manage a 35-yard scoring run by Tyler Broussard

ST. EDMUND 10, SACRED HEART-VILLE PLATTE 6: In Eunice, St. Edmund (6-4) jumped out to 10-0 first quarter lead to improve to 4-3 in District 6-1A.

A 47-yard run by Austin Lafleur put the Blue Jays up 7-0. A Biscuit Arnaud 27-yard field goal upped the lead to 10-0, Nick Firmin scored on a 34-yard run for Sacred Heart of Ville Platte (4-6, 3-4).

CATHOLIC-POINTE COUPEE 36, FALSE RIVER 7: Jonas Guichet threw five touchdowns a Catholic High of Pointe Coupee (6-4, 4-3) finished in a tie for third in District 6-1A.

Guichet threw a 6-yard TD pass to Jalen Pierrotti, a 1-yard pass to Hunter Thibodeaux, a 23-yard strike to Cornell Green, a 44-yard pass to Andrew Jarreaux and a 10-yard pass to Cole Fry.

Brock Rockforte scored on a 2-yard run for False River Academy (2-7, 1-6).

IOTA 35, MAMOU 6: In Iota, Brandon Fantroy ran for three scores and Thomas Murrell ran for two as Iota took the easy win.

Fantroy ran for 34-, 4- and 3-yard scoring runs, while Murrell, who led all rushers with 165 yards on 23 carries, scored on 1- and 4-yard runs. The Iota defense picked off four Mamou passes.

Dylan Holland scored the only Mamou touchdown on a 3-yard run.

CEDAR CREEK 42, ARCADIA 14: Donald Jenkins and Shiloh Perry each scored a pair of touchdowns as Cedar Creek (8-2), the eighth-ranked team in Class 1A, cruised the easy win.

Jenkins scored on runs of 10 and 3 yards while Perry caught a 6-yard pass from Mark Van and scored on a 37-yard run

EUNICE 27, CHURCH POINT 24: In Eunice, Trenon Trosclair scored on a 4-yard run in overtime to give Eunice the District 5-3A championship.

Trosclair also threw a pair of TD passes to Derek Denton as Eunice, the second-ranked team in Class 3A, finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record and a 5-0 district record.

Devin Landry scored on a 1-yard run and caught a 7-yard TD pass from Brett Richard and Trevor Breaux scored on a 10-yard run for Church Point (6-4, 3-2).

VILLE PLATTE 48, OAKDALE 0: In Ville Platte, Isaiah Thomas threw for three touchdowns and Jermarcus Jones ran for two as Ville Platte put up 41 points in the first half and cruised to the shutout win.

Justin Charles caught 44- and 13-yard scoring passes from Thomas and ran an interception back 27 yards for a third score.

ABBEVILLE 35, SOUTH TERREBONNE 31: Abbeville jumped out to a 28-17 lead and held off a late South Terrebonne rally to finish the regular season with a 3-7 record. South Terrebonne dropped to 3-6 with the nondistrict loss.
