State Police to host family health, safety event

Louisiana State Police, Troop A will present its fifth annual Troop A Day on Sunday, Nov. 4.

The fun family health and safety event will run noon-4 p.m. in the parking lot of Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin’, 18142 Perkins Road.

Close to 40 local, state and federal agencies and private organizations will take part in the free event .

In addition to live music and food, the public can view displays, including mobile command posts, a fire safety smoke house, a helicopter, a bomb robot, K-9 units, motorcycles, patrol units, an ambulance, fire trucks, patrol boats and more.

The day will offer activities including a blood drive, health screenings, face painting, fire-ladder lift rides, inflatables, a K-9 demonstration, an equipment demonstration, interactive training tools, driving safety demonstrations, games and door prizes.

Last year, the crowd surpassed 1,200, according to TFC Michael Talley, education outreach coordinator for LSP, Troop A.
