Can anything be done to help move westbound traffic on Florida Boulevard in Denham Springs by synchronizing the two traffic lights at the intersection of Hummel Street and Florida Boulevard and South Range Avenue and Florida Boulevard? These two lights are one block apart and westbound traffic has to stop for both.
Response from Dustin Annison, public information officer with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development:
DOTD crews made timing adjustments to these two signals. DOTD will monitor the timing adjustments for effectiveness and make additional adjustments if necessary.
In addition, DOTD is in the process of developing the scope for a corridor study that will help us determine what improvements could be made on La. 3002 (South Range Avenue) to improve safety and traffic flow. Work on the study should begin in approximately six months.
