Northeasterners experienced days of power outages last October due to a snowstorm. This weekend, and into Halloween and Election Day, a worse storm is expected.
Hurricane Sandy may be called “Super Sandy” and “Frankenstorm” as it reaches the coast of New Jersey and may surpass the “Perfect Storm” that also occurred in October 21 years ago. That storm caused 13 fatalities and $200 million in damage with Sandy possibly approaching the billion dollar mark. The hybrid combination represents all the ingredients of a hurricane, including an explosive amount of rain, wind and storm surge.
On top of the storm is the jet stream and a pocket of cold Canadian air. In addition to 50 million power outages, there will be snow for residents above 800 feet. Fastcast: A shower?
