Athletic Director Rick Dickson to have chat with Tulane fans

NEW ORLEANS — Tulane Athletics Director Rick Dickson announced he will host a live chat with Green Wave fans at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The chat is available on Tulane’s website at http://tulane.edu/athletics/live-chat-with-rick-dickson.cfm.

In a statement emailed to fans Friday morning, Dickson said he’s “trying out a new way to communicate with you” and will field questions both before the chat and during it.

“Rick Dickson’s live chat will be an hour-long event where fans will have the opportunity to email questions to him, and he will answer as many as he can,” Tulane spokesman Roger Dunaway said. “A transcript will be posted afterwards. This is a new avenue he is exploring in an effort to communicate directly with as many fans as possible. It is our hope that Tulane fans from all over the country will take this opportunity to send him their questions about Tulane Athletics.”

This is the second email Dickson, in his 13th year as TU athletic director, has sent directly to Green Wave fans recently.

Following Tulane’s 14th consecutive football loss, a 63-10 defeat to Louisiana-Monroe, Dickson admitted disappointment but asked fans to support first-year football coach Curtis Johnson and the rest of the Green Wave student-athletes.

Tulane’s football team has not won a game since Sept. 17, 2011. Its 15-game skid is the longest losing streak in the FBS. The Green Wave has not played in a bowl game since winning the Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 25, 2002.

Its men’s basketball program has not reached the postseason since losing in the first round of the NIT in 2000. The baseball team has not participated in the NCAA tournament since it was eliminated from the Tallahassee Regional in 2008.
