Thursday’s column identified wine destinations in the U.S. I correspond with Debbie Thompson Householder. Years ago, Debbie’s dad and our uncle, Paul Price, co-owned the cottage that Debbie and her family enjoy and we frequented during the summer months. On the border of Pennsylvania and New York, adjacent to Lake Erie, are the cities of Dunkirk and Fredonia, N.Y. Michael Marsh also knows this region and noted his grandmother enjoyed a nip of Genesee Beer and Molson Ale, as I remember the Koehler Brewery in Erie that afforded college students a “tour.” In this area, there are thousands of acres of vineyards, showcasing the famous Concord grape and Welch’s Grape Juice. Summers, springs and falls are enjoyable but the winters on Lake Erie: brutal.
Fastcast: Perfect.
