LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Parish school system’s GEAR UP program is offering a series of Family College Nights to help high school students and their families plan for college, according to a school system news release.
The first Family College Night is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy cafeteorium, 805 Teurlings Drive.
The sessions target 10th- and 11th-grade students and their families. Representatives from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Aid and the United Way of Acadiana will be available to present information about tax filing and financial aid.
Dinner will be provided, and homework assistance and child care will be available for parents attending with children.
Upcoming sessions are planned Nov. 1, at Lafayette High; Nov. 8, Acadiana High; Nov. 13, Carencro High; and Nov. 15, Northside High.
