BRPD: Man found shot to death at complex

Baton Rouge police identified a man found shot to death early Monday at a Bard Avenue apartment complex near North Sherwood Forest Boulevard.

Police were called out to 11445 Bard Ave. at 12:05 a.m., police spokesman Lt. Don Kelly said.

When police arrived, they found Clement Leagea, 45, 11445 Bard Ave., lying on a sidewalk inside the complex, Kelly said.

Leagea had gunshots wounds to his upper body, Kelly said.

Although the motive for the shooting has not been determined, it appears to be drug related, Kelly said.

The only description of a possible suspect police have is a black man dressed in dark clothing who was observed running from the scene, Kelly said.

The killing is the 79th homicide investigated by law enforcement agencies in East Baton Rouge Parish in 2012, according to statistics compiled by The Advocate.

It is the 63rd homicide within city limits.
