SATURDAY
- 3K WALK FOR HOPE: 8 a.m., Denham Springs High School, 1000 N. Range Ave., Denham Springs. The "3K Walk for Hope" is sponsored by A Door of Hope, a nonprofit organization that helps women who are 17 to 35 years old and struggling with various issues like addiction, abuse, eating disorders or self- harm. The organization provides struggling women with 24-hour care at a residential home with a Christian setting. The walk will start at the high school, go through the Aantique Ddistrict, turn around at the train station and return to the high school. - VOLUNTEER WORK DAY: The Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary, 20591 Abe Hoover Road, Livingston. The sanctuary is looking for volunteers for its "Volunteer Work Day," which is held on the second Saturday of each month. The staff relies on volunteers to help care for animals and maintain the facilities. The goal is to release injured, ill or orphaned animals back into their natural habitat. Each person who finds a book gets to go to the VIP party, which will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Livingston Parish Library Branch and the Denham Springs-Walker Library Branch.
