The Livingston Parish Retired Teachers will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at the School Board office in Livingston. Kim Howes Zabbia, who is with the Louisiana Northshore Quilt Trail, will be the guest speaker.

A light lunch will be served. All retired teachers are invited.

H.O.P.E. grief support

Hospice of Baton Rouge will host six grief support sessions from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays for six weeks beginning Tuesday. Sessions are free and will be held at Ochsner Medical Center off O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge.

Entrepreneur workshop

The Livingston Economic Development Council and other partners will host “Write Your Own Check: Be an Entrepreneur,” a series that consists of six, free sessions from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Tuesday at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Blvd., Walker.

The series will prepare participants for the critical business planning process, organizers said.

Benefit Zumbathon

A Zumbathon with instructors Jennifer Butler, Tara Stafford and Ashlie Morales will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Denham Springs Junior High School, 401 Hatchell Lane.

Walk for Hope

A Door of Hope will host a 3K Walk for Hope at 8 a.m. Saturday. The walk will begin at the Denham Springs High School, 1000 N. Range Ave., and proceed through the antique district, loop in front of the train station, and back to the high school.

A Door of Hope is a new nonprofit organization in Livingston Parish whose mission is to help girls ages 17-35 struggling to overcome various issues such as addiction, abuse, eating disorders and self harm by providing a residential home with 24-hour care in a Christian setting.

Book sale

The Denham Springs-Walker Library, 8101 U.S. 190, will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Hardcovers and books on CD will cost $1. Paperbacks, children’s books, VHS and books on cassette will cost 25 cents to 50 cents.
