Youth program accepting applications

LAFAYETTE — The Keeping Youth Trained and Educated program is accepting applications for its upcoming session that begins Oct. 15 at South Louisiana Community College, according to a SLCC news release.

Applicants must be out of school and 16 to 21 years old. Participants get help to earn a GED, get career-readiness training, and to enroll into a post-secondary institution/vocational training program.

The program begins on Oct. 15 and ends March 28. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. There is no tuition for eligible applicants. The program will be held at SLCC’s Ardoin Building, 1101 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette.

Potential applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible because only 25 spots are available and placement is on a first-come, first-served basis, the release stated.
