LAFAYETTE — Free health screenings will be available to cultural workers and music professionals from 9 a.m.
to noon Oct. 14 at Festivals Acadiens et Creoles in Girard Park, according to a news release.
The screenings are an outreach of the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation Health Care Initiative and offered in partnership with the Louisiana Crafts Guild.
The screenings will be in the festival’s artists’ hospitality tent and will include blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose testing.
The foundation’s Health Care Initiative helps link working musicians and cultural workers to affordable primary and preventative health care and affordable prescriptions.
The foundation says cultural workers include artists, writers, culinary workers and any person whose job promotes the state’s cultural economy.
