WHEN: Food collection barrels with the ‘Feed-A-Family’ logo will be available Monday through Nov. 10.

DETAILS: Area residents are urged to place nonperishable food items such as canned goods, dried milk and rice, etc., in the barrels. Food collected will be distributed through the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, which serves 11 area parishes including East and West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, St. James, St. Helena, Livingston, Ascension and Assumption. Perishable items (turkeys, hams, fruits or vegetables) will be collected on Feed-A-Family Friday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at Matherne’s Grocery Store, 7580 Bluebonnet Blvd., in Baton Rouge. The event is sponsored by Dow Louisiana Federal Credit Union. Monetary donations are also welcome by visiting WBRZ.com.
