A New Iberia man died Saturday night after he was struck by an 18-wheeler on U.S. 90 near Neco Town Road, State Police said Sunday.
The crash occurred at 8:45 p.m. when a 2005 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Ray Hebert, 57, of Chauvin, struck Amos Johnson, 67, as Johnson was crossing the highway, State Police spokesman Trooper Stephen Hammons said.
Johnson was pronounced dead by the Iberia Parish coroner. Hebert, who was properly restrained, was not injured, Hammons said.
The crash remains under investigation, Hammons said.
