AME church to hold services at new spot

Trinity AME Church, a new African Methodist Episcopal Church, will begin services at 1420 South Darla Ave. in Gonzales on Sunday.

The Rev. Orin J. Blouin and the Trinity congregation met in homes and at the Howard Johnson Post 557 American Legion Hall before the Rev. Matthew Stephens and the Word of Faith church family provided Trinity with a sanctuary for worship, a news release from Trinity says.

Services are at 8 a.m. Sunday and a Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Presiding Elder David J. Campbell Jr., of the Western New Orleans Baton Rouge District, will participate in the dedication services at 8 a.m. Sunday.

“The mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed,” Blouin said in a news release.
