The Baker Fire Department is still investigating the cause of a fire that broke out Sunday in a small house on Burgess Drive.
When Baker firefighters responded to the fire at 4402 Burgess Drive at 7:06 p.m., they found heavy flames and smoke near the front bedroom and the attic, Baker Fire Department spokesman Howard Ward said.
Firefighters stopped the blaze from spreading, Ward said.
Early estimates are that the fire originated in the bedroom or near the bed, Ward said. The homeowner was across the street at her mother’s house and the only person in the house, her brother, escaped without injury, Ward said.
