Lutcher rolls past Broadmoor

LUTCHER — Ruston Matherne passed for 182 yards and four touchdowns, leading fourth-ranked Lutcher High (4-0, 2-0) to a 43-6 victory over Broadmoor in District 6-4A action Friday night.

Matherne completed 16 of 21 passes, including TD passes of 25 and 19 yards to Spencer Roussel and 10 and 21 yards to Deamphramy Davis.

The Bulldogs scored 23 second-quarter points to put the game away. Matherne and DiJohn Payne each scored on a 1-yard run during that pivotal second-quarter surge for LHS.

Davis led Lutcher in receiving with five catches for 54 yards. Ryan Sibley ran for 53 yards and passed for 65 yards, including a 2-yard TD pass to Anthony Jackson, to pace Broadmoor (2-3, 1-1).

WALKER 40, WEST ST. MARY 10: In Walker, the host Wildcats (2-3) won their second straight behind Carlton Perkins and Tyler Lockhart.

Lockhart completed 7 of 12 passes for 248 yards and two TDs, including a 93-yard scoring pass to Perkins, who tallied 206 yards of total offense and scored four TDs.

Perkins ran for 91 yards on 10 carries and scored on runs 2, 5 and 50 yards. He caught two passes for 105 yards. Lockhart’s other long TD pass covered 90 yards and was caught by Bryce Brown. Trevell Dixon passed for 79 yards and scored the lone TD for WSM (0-5).

POINTE COUPEE CENTRAL 37, WESTMINSTER 35: In LaBarre, Kevin Bourgeois passed for 364 yards and four TDs to power PCC (2-2, 2-0) to an upset win over eighth-ranked Westminster Christian in District 6-1A.

Bourgeois completed 18 of 44 passes and also ran for a TD. Delfontay Powell, who had five catches for 136 yards, was one of four PCC players to catch TD passes. One of Powell’s receptions covered 80 yards.

Ernest Lemay, David St. Cyr and D’Michael Lucas also caught scoring passes for the winners. Wesley Bellard ran for 166 yards on 19 carries and scored three TDs for Westminster (3-2, 1-1).

NORTHEAST 23, VARNADO 6: In Varnado, Northeast (2-2) scored 16 third-quarter points to clinch a nondistrict win.

Jon Chatman scored on a 70-yard fumble return for the Vikings. DeMarcus Eubanks (8-yard run) and Chris Smith (23-yard pass from Darryl Adams) scored the other TDs for Northeast.

ASCENSION CATHOLIC 42, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 40: In Donaldsonville, Wade Bailey ran for 206 yards on 20 and scored five TDs to lead host ACHS (4-1).

A 98-yard run by Bailey capped a 22-point fourth quarter for the Bulldogs. Dontrell Brown and Josh Singleton each scored two TDs for Morgan City-based Central Catholic.

CARENCRO 33, SAM HOUSTON 14: In Carencro, Jaylan Rose ran for 131 yards on 13 carries and scored three TDs for sixth-ranked Carencro (3-1, 1-0) in a District 3-5A opener.

Rose had TD runs of 1, 12 and 74 yards.

Cliff Reid led Sam Houston with 142 yards on 11 carries and scored two TDs for SHHS (1-4, 0-1).
