Letters: Animal disaster society seeks ideas

I am a member of the newly formed Louisiana Council to Protect Animals in Disaster. Some of our council’s primary goals are to review and evaluate all animal rescue operations during each natural and man-made disasters and make improvements, so that fewer animals will suffer or die during these events.

It is estimated that more than 2,000 cattle and a dozen horses drowned during Hurricane Issac, and our council would like to hear from the public and special interest groups on how we can prevent the loss of animals in future disasters. Our website has both public comment and evaluation forms, which will be read and studied by each of our 10 council members. Our website address is http://www.animalsinreview.com/.
