ST. FRANCISVILLE — River Bend nuclear power plant technicians will conduct tests of three emergency warning sirens in the Feliciana parishes Oct. 9 and, if necessary, on Oct. 11 to verify the sound output of a new siren design.
West Feliciana Parish Emergency Operations Manager Tommy Boyett said the East Feliciana Parish siren is on the north side of Thompson Road, near Brian Road, in the Slaughter area.
Two sirens will be tested in West Feliciana Parish, one on the west side of La. 66, three-tenths of a mile north of Ritchie Lane, and the other on the east side of Sage Hill Road, nine-tenths of a mile north of Bains Road, Boyett said.
Boyett said each siren will be sounded individually during the Oct. 9 test. The siren will be sounded for one minute at a time but for a number of times to obtain the necessary sound output measurements.
The nuclear plant also conducts a monthly test of its warning sirens at 10 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month.
