“LA Rider — America on 2 Wheels,” a Louisiana-based motorcycle travel show, is back for its fall season.

In this weekend’s episode titled “Battlefields,” the show’s hosts, called the Chrome Cowgirls, get a history lesson from fellow rider and Civil War historian Mike Cherry, of Baton Rouge, with visits to the Port Hudson Battlefield and the Vicksburg National Battlefield Park.

Since its inception seven years ago, “LA Rider,” the state’s only weekly tourism show, has offered stories on motorcycle travel, adventure and touring.

“From the very beginning, our audience has asked for more stories on travel and destinations, whether it is an overnighter, a weekend rendezvous or a full-blown motorcycle vacation,” said Bob Courtney, the show’s creator and executive producer.

“Over the years, we have traversed the country in search of interesting stories that tell the positive side of motorcycling, but we have always found that some of motorcycle travel’s best kept secrets are right here in our own backyard.”

This season, the show will travel across the state in search of curious attractions but will place a special emphasis on Louisiana’s top destinations and unique stories told from the perspective of three Louisiana women riders — hosts T.W. Robinson, Tammi Arender and Lovie Zago.

Support for the series comes from the Louisiana Office of Tourism’s Scenic Byways program as well as several Louisiana convention and visitors bureaus, including the Livingston Parish and Houma/Terrebonne Parish CVBs and Southeast Louisiana Gumbo, an association of nine CVBs in southeast Louisiana. Additional support comes from New Orleans Harley-Davidson.

“LA Rider” airs at 9:30 p.m. Saturday on WBTR, Channel 41 (cable Channel 19) and 10 a.m. Sunday on WGMB, Channel 44 (cable Channel 6). The show airs in the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, Alexandria and Lake Charles markets, and this season expands to seven Southern states on the FOX Sports South network.
