Police report 92 vehicle burglaries in Sept.

LAFAYETTE — Amid a rash of auto burglaries in the city, Lafayette police are asking residents to lock their vehicles.

There have been 92 vehicle burglaries across the city since Sept. 13, police reported Thursday.

“That’s a little extreme,” police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said.

Most of the burglarized vehicles were unlocked, Mouton said. He said investigators, who are actively investigating the burglaries, believe many of them are linked.
