Registration is under way for the Ascension Parish Library’s popular Fall Storytime program.

The program, which offers four different reading groups, starts on Oct. 9, library spokeswoman Shelly Miller said.

The Storytime programs are for toddlers through age 5. A Bilingual Storytime program offers activities for children of all ages who speak Spanish, English or both.

Parents can register their child in advance by either calling or visiting the library.

Archery program

Bowhunters and archery enthusiasts are invited to attend a program Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, archery instructor Eural “Teeny” LeBlanc said.

“Come out and set your sights and practice for the archery hunting season,” LeBlanc said. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon.

LeBlanc said those attending should drive past the main entrance on St. Landry Road to the second entrance, and the range will be behind the green fence on the right.

ACT play cast named

Ascension Community Theatre has announced the cast of its November production of Tennessee Williams’ “A House Not Meant to Stand.”

The cast includes Nick Cardona, Lorna C. Bourgeois, Nanette Kivett, Derek Bourque, Warren Fraser, Bess Yurek, Michael Mason and Andrew Kim.

This rarely produced and final play of Williams will be staged Nov. 1-4 and Nov. 8-10 at the Pasqua Theater in Gonzales.

‘Ask the Doctor’ series

Ascension Parish Council on Aging is starting a new “Ask the Doctor” program in October.

St. Elizabeth’s Physicians, the Louisiana Dental Center, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and the Ascension Parish Council on Aging have designed the program to provide medical information to area seniors.

Specialists, local physicians, dentists and health professionals will answer questions from local seniors in COA’s monthly newsletter. Then, on the second Wednesday of each month, the doctor who wrote the column will give a presentation at the Gonzales Senior Center, 526 S. Irma Blvd.

Dr. Shawn Owens will talk at the first program set for 11 a.m. Oct. 10. Owens will talk about topics related to oral health.

Championship reunion

The 1992 Ascension Catholic High School Bulldogs’ State Championship football team will celebrate its 20-year reunion on Thursday at Floyd Boutte Memorial Stadium in Donaldsonville.

The Bulldogs host St. John of Plaquemine.
