Man, 41, gets prison  for theft of gas cards

A Leesville man who worked as a dispatcher at Fort Polk’s motor pool was sentenced to one year in prison for stealing government fuel cards.

U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi also on Thursday ordered Brian Eugene Wallace, 41, to perform 200 hours of community service and pay nearly $8,000 in restitution to Fort Polk.

Wallace and two other people were charged in May 2011 with conspiracy to use or traffic unauthorized access devices.

Federal prosecutors said Wallace used his position to steal gas cards associated with government vehicles and used them to fill up vehicles belonging to him or his friends and family.
