FORT POLK — An infantry unit from Fort Polk departs Monday for an international training exercise in Kazakhstan.
Soldiers from C Company, 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, are participating in a three-week exercise called “Steppe Eagle” that will have them training with Kazakh forces as well as representatives from other countries.
This is the first overseas deployment of the unit since Operation Enduring Freedom.
A deployment ceremony is set for 9:30 a.m. at Fort Polk’s Mountain Field.
