Pam’s Party Line for Aug. 26, 2012

Debutantes and Mardi Gras royalty top the agenda this Sunday. It’s a clear sign that the Capital City’s social season is about to blast off to hyper speed.

Les Jeunes Amies

Twelve senior members of Les Jeunes Amies de la Symphonie were introduced as members of this year’s debutante coterie at the Baton Rouge Symphony League’s annual Mother-Daughter Tea Aug. 19 at the Baton Rouge Country Club. Welcoming the LJA members, moms and grandmothers were LJA co-chairwomen Susan Love and Alice Tallis.

Also participating in the program were Symphony League President Alexis Thompson, President-elect Louann Bombet, and Wendy Johnson and Mary Jane Dillenberger, co-chairwomen of Bal de la Symphonie at which the debs will be presented Nov. 24.

The debutantes include Kathryn Holland Adler, daughter of Suzie and Andy Adler; Lucia Anne Bellanger, daughter of Tiffany and Dr. Drake Bellanger; Kacy Layne Bringaze, daughter of Lisa Perez and Walter Bringaze; Sarah Madaline Day, daughter of Hollea and Stephen Holliday; Daniela Victoria Hurtado, daughter of Kelly and Enrique Hurtado; Natalie Estrem Kramm, daughter of Nancy Kramm and Dr. Paul Kramm; Kathleen René Love, daughter of Susan and Lew Love; Summer Marie Rhynes, daughter of Drs. Susan and Keith Rhynes; Mikaele Judith Simon, daughter of Misty and Robert Rembert; Alana Kendall Voorhies, daughter of Roxane and Paul Voorhies; Peyton Marie Wells, daughter of Jan and Timoth Wells; and Katherine Grace Whittington, daughter of Shelley and Michael Whittington.

Artemis Coronation

The night before, David Todd Guitreau and Taylor Victoria Kleinpeter, daughter of Debbie and Jeff Kleinpeter, were crowned King and Queen Artemis XII at the krewe’s Coronation Gala at the Crowne Plaza. They will be formally presented along with the other members of the royal court at Artemis’ Mardi Gras Soireé Jan. 12. They will also parade through the streets of downtown when the “Artemis Loves Louisiana” rolls Feb. 1.

Introduced to the board, members and their guests at the gala were maids Kaleigh Elizabeth Dimaio, daughter of Janese and Darron Dimaio, and Elizabeth Grace Hymel, daughter of Amanda and Guy J. Hymel III; dukes Preston Grant Denn, son of Jennifer Dupré and Greg Denn, and Garrett Davis Banta, son of Celeste and Bruce Banta; junior maids Cassidy Eve Dickinson, daughter of Julie and Travis Dickinson; Elizabeth Claire Barton, daughter of Jennifer and Shan Barton; and Molly Katherine Shepherd, daughter of Katy and Kent Shepherd; and junior dukes Brandon Scott Andrews Jr., son of Charlotte and Scott Andrews; Kevin Peyton McDonald, son of Nancy and Justin McDonald; and James Russell Saloom, son of Laura and Dr. Russell Saloom.

Also, introduced were ladies-in-waiting Isabel Ruth Clements, daughter of Dr. Kelly Clements and Robert Clements, and Grace Elizabeth Hamilton, daughter of Tracy and Chad Hamilton; and dukes-in-waiting Hunter Allyn Barton, son of Jennifer and Shan Barton, and Cameron Page Devall, son of Heather Poole and Page Devall.

Serving as the queen’s pages are Jillian Clare Clements, daughter of Dr. Kelly Clements and Robert Clements, and Emma Scott Poole, daughter of Heather and Scott Poole. Cole Jude Dupré, son of Jennifer and Chris Dupré, and Ashton Shane Hamilton, son of Diana and Shane Hamilton, are attending the king as his pages.

Making their final royal wave were King and Queen Artemis XI, André Uzee and Karen Profita, along with maids Andrea Bodin and Meghan McDonald, and dukes Jacob Still and Scott Thompson.

Brotherhood Sisterhood

“Quiet leaders” … “unsung heroes” is how Richard Lipsey described this year’s recipients of the Brotherhood Sisterhood Award, the Rev. Raymond Jetson and Frank McArthur. The two were introduced to past honorees and members of the two groups sponsoring the award, 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge and Forum 35, at a cocktail party hosted by Lipsey and wife Susan, along with Jacqui Vines, at the Lipsey home Aug. 16. The Lipseys and Vines are chairing the 50th anniversary awards dinner Nov. 15 at the Hilton Capitol Center.

The award recognizes individuals who have worked to bridge racial, social, ethnic and religious lines in their professional lives, philanthropic efforts and volunteer service.

Women’s Leadership Council

Earlier that day, I joined members of the Capital Area United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council for a champagne toast at the Hilton Capitol Center to celebrate its first successful year. Under the leadership of chairwoman Ruthie Golden, this group of women is setting its sights on several projects to better our community. Members were also signing up to volunteer for CAUW’s Jambalaya Jam, a huge street party Oct. 11 officially kicking off this year’s campaign.

The toast was followed by a luncheon, where we were joined by other CAUW leadership givers and workplace campaign leaders. Welcoming everyone was 2012 Campaign Chairman Mike Albano and CAUW Board Chairwoman Christy Reeves. Delivering the day’s pep talk were Elise Bouchner and Manual Valencia with Excelerant.
