Sign-up opens for troupe’s Zombie run

Pre-registration is open for Baton Rouge’s contemporary dance-theater company Of Moving Colors’ annual Zombie Bash 5K run/walk, set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, beginning at the 13th Gate haunted house.

Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome and are encouraged to wear costumes. There also will be pre- and post-race parties. Following the race, community members will join company dancers in a mass street performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” The pre-registration fee is $20 for adults age 17 and older, and $15 for youth age 16 and younger. Movies & Music

Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive, will continue its Movies & Music on the Lawn 2012 series “Black and White to the Future” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, with the 1918 silent film Himmelskibert: A Trip to Mars. Hours curtailed

LSU Libraries Special Collections and the Hill Memorial Library building has altered its hours of operation, due to renovation work being done on the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. New hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. The library is closed on home football game Saturdays. Partnership launched

Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge has teamed up with the LSU Performing Arts Academy to offer a new series of arts education programs to the Baton Rouge community specifically designed to include individuals with special needs. The first program of the series, a music class called “Rhythmataz! Inclusive Music for Teens,” will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 2-Dec. 4, in the LSU Music and Dramatic Arts Building on Dalrymple Drive on campus and targets teens ages 13-18. Tuition is $150.
