John Cagnolatti has announced he is seeking a second term in the Division E seat on the Gonzales City Council.

Cagnolatti, a 64-year-old Republican, said he would like to continue serving the city he and his family call home and its residents.

“Since taking office in January 2009, I have been involved with many projects and issues which have led to increased and improved services as well as economic growth for our city’s residents and businesses,” Cagnolatti said in a news release.

Qualifying for the council races in Gonzales, along with races for mayor and police chief, began Wednesday and ends Friday.

“I pledge that, while maintaining fiscal responsibility, I will encourage and support programs, projects, issues or economic development which will have a positive impact on the quality of life for everyone who calls Gonzales home,” Cagnolatti said. “I’ve always said that Gonzales is a great place to live and raise a family; let’s make it even better.”

Prior to being elected to the council in 2008, Cagnolatti spent 13 years on the city’s Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Commission, including the past eight years as chairman. He also is a past chairman of the Ascension Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Cagnolatti represents the city as an ex-officio member of the Ascension Economic Development Corporation.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you, the citizens of Gonzales and I ask for your prayers and continued support,” Cagnolatti said.
