‘Cuts for Kids’

Get spiffed up for the start of school.

WHAT: Remington College’s Baton Rouge campus is providing two weeks of complimentary haircuts for children ages 17 and younger.

WHEN: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 3.

WHERE: Remington College - Baton Rouge campus, 4520 Sherwood Forest Blvd., Unit 001.

DETAILS: Appointments can be scheduled. Walk-ins are also welcome. Haircuts will be done by instructors and students in the cosmetology program. Adults who bring a child in for the event can get 50 percent off select services themselves.

Meet Big Baby

Give a helping hand to the Glen “Big Baby” Davis Foundation.

WHAT: The fundraiser gives participants a chance to meet the Orlando Magic and former LSU basketball player.

WHEN: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.

WHERE: Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St., second-floor lobby.

DETAILS: There will be door prizes, complimentary food and a chance to play Davis in a game of “NCAA Football 13.” Tickets are $20 with the proceeds benefiting Davis’ foundation that raises awareness of children’s literacy and demonstrates the positive impact that reading has on youth and the community.

‘Cruisin’ for a Cure’

Enjoy yourself and help out the American Cancer Society.

WHAT: Syngenta will host the open car/truck/bike show.

WHEN: Saturday.
