Clinton woman killed in two-vehicle collision

A Clinton woman died Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on Liberty Road near La. 64, State Trooper Russell Graham II said.

Matthew Harding, 30, of Greenwell Springs, was driving a 2006 GMC pickup north on Liberty Road when he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming 2005 Toyota Corolla, Graham said.

The driver of the Corolla, Nancy Pierce, 48, died at the scene, Graham said.

Harding was not injured.

Samples of Pierce’s blood and Harding’s urine have been submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, Graham said, adding Harding also submitted a breath sample that showed he had no detectable alcohol in his system.

Charges are pending based on the outcome of troopers’ investigation into the incident, Graham said.
