Our Views: Yemen strike for USS Cole

The death of Fahd al-Quso in Yemen is another in the process of America’s task of bringing justice to international terrorists.

A leader in al-Qaida’s bombing of the USS Cole in Aden Harbor, al-Quso was killed by a drone strike. He had also been linked to the unsuccessful bomb plot on a U.S. airliner at Christmas 2009.

Twelve years ago, 17 sailors were killed and 39 injured in the Cole bombing.

This successful operation is another in the series of retributions for attacks on Americans. Last year, U.S-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki was killed in a strike in the same area of Yemen where many al-Qaida leaders have holed up.

The most recent strike was authorized by the Yemeni government, a welcome development showing the cooperation of local authorities in tracking down wanted terrorists.

We congratulate the armed services and the intelligence services for this new victory in an international war against terrorist operations.
