Track and field tickets available

Tickets are available through the LSU Athletic Department for the Southeastern Conference Track and Field Championships, which will be held May 10-13 at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

LSU will host the event for the first time since 2000 and ninth time overall. The men’s championships are being held for the 80th time, while the women will be competing for team and individual honors for the 32nd time.

All-session tickets, which provide admission on Friday, Saturday and championship Sunday, are available for $20 for adults and $10 for youths. Individual tickets can also be purchased each day of the meet for $10 for adults and $5 for youths.

There is no admission charge for Thursday’s competition, which will consist of the first five events in the men’s decathlon and first four events of the women’s heptathlon.

ERNEST HONORED BY SEC: For the third time in the outdoor season, LSU sprinter Aaron Ernest has been named the SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week for his performance last weekend at the Penn Relays.

Ernest shattered his wind-legal personal record in the 100 meters with the fastest run of the qualifying round at 10.26 seconds to earn a spot in the final in his Penn Relays debut. He then ran a 10.47 in the final to finish second as Jamaica’s Jacques Harvey won with a 10.26.

Ernest is the NCAA’s No. 1-ranked freshman sprinter in the 100 with top wind-aided and wind-legal times of 10.15 and 10.26 seconds, respectively.

He also ran the second leg of LSU’s 4x100-meter relay team that recorded a season’s-best of 39.49 seconds to take third place in the final.
