Airline Highway lane closures scheduled

Lane closures on Airline Highway in Ascension Parish are expected to expand this month as crews continue to cut out bumps and patch them in preparation for a major overlay project, state highway officials said Tuesday.

The state Department of Transportation and Development is spending $9.1 million to repave a 7-mile section of Airline between La. 22 in Sorrento and La. 74 northwest of Gonzales.

Closures on Airline continue between La. 22 and La. 939 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Tuesday and May 18, DOTD officials said in a news release.

Additional lane closures will occur on Airline between La. 939 to La. 74, starting Monday and continuing to May 21, DOTD officials said.

Those closures will occur from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, DOTD officials said.

In all cases, the closures will allow vehicles up to 11 feet wide to move through the construction zone, DOTD officials said. One lane will remain open at all times.
