Appointments, reappointments made by council

GONZALES — The Ascension Parish Council has made appointments to various boards and commissions.

The council reappointed Elinda Taillon to the Ascension Parish Tourism Commission and renamed Darius Hall, James LeBlanc and Nathaniel Stephens to the Ascension Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 Board of Directors.

LeBlanc is the board chairman.

There were no other applicants for the openings on tourism commission or the fire board, parish officials said.

The fire board oversees volunteer fire departments in parts of the east bank outside Gonzales and the Prairieville area.

The council also replaced an opening on the Ascension Parish Fire Protection District No. 3 Board of Directors created by the departure of Councilwoman Teri Casso.

Casso was elected to the council last fall, took office in January and can no longer serve on the board.

Tracy Burns of Prairieville was named to the board, which oversees the Prairieville Fire Department.

In her application, she describes herself as a commercial interior designer who worked on the Praireiville department’s administration building and fire station on La. 73.

She wrote that she has experience working with the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office on life safety codes for buildings. Burns was the only applicant.

The council also named two of five applicants to the Ascension Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors: Erica McGeachy Crenshaw and Don Hanna.

Hanna of St. Amant worked for 30 years at BASF, retired in 1995 and has worked in commercial and industrial real estate since then, according to his application.

Crenshaw of Prairieville says she has more than 16 years of experience in investment banking research, corporate finance and accounting, according to her application.

On April 19, the council backed the appointments and reappointments without opposition and on the recommendation of the Council Personnel Committee.

In other action on April 19, the council backed the addition of new job titles, changes to job titles and one pay change for the new 2012 job classification list.

Among the new titles are a paralegal/custodian of public records, a stormwater inspector and a night watchman for Lamar-Dixon Expo Center and other recreational areas.

The council also boosted the pay range for the purchasing supervisor by two pay grades: from a range of $40,144 to $60,382 to a range of $43,700 to $64,563.
