Silliman girls win South A-AA meet

The Silliman Institute girls track and field team won the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools AA title at the South A-AA meet held last week at Silliman.

The Silliman girls finished with 78.5 points to easily beat Centreville Academy (36). Oak Forest Academy of Amite finished fourth with 26 points and Central Private was sixth with 15.5 points.

On the boys side, Centreville Academy won with 83 points. Silliman finsihed third with 59 and Central Private finished ninth with 3.

Individually for the girls, area winners included Silliman’s Bradleigh Brignac (discus), Addie Roberts (long jump), Morgan Ohlinger (3200-meter run, 1600-meter run, 800-meter run) and Oak Forest’s Lindsey Neal (triple jump).

Central Private’s girls won the 4x100 meter relay.

Individually for the boys, area winners included Oak Forest’s Shelton Carruth (shot put), John Moore Beauchamp (pole vault) and Ryan Riggins (110-meter hurdles).
