Maranatha church names Hawes pastor

The Rev. Keith Hawes, a Baton Rouge native, is the new pastor of Maranatha Fellowship, 1433 Sharp Lane.

He joined the church in mid-April, replacing the Rev. Mike Cowart who left in January.

Hawes has returned to Baton Rouge after serving as a pastor in Roseland.

He is a graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., where he got a degree in international development and evangelism.

He and his wife, Melissa, have one daughter, Olivia.

Sunday’s service begins at 10:30 a.m.

Cenacle retreats study Jesus, peace

Upcoming retreats at the Cenacle Retreat House, 5500 St. Mary St., Metairie, will explore such topics as peace and the humanity of Jesus.

New Pilgrim adding Sunday night service

New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 4277 Old Weis Road in Zachary, is adding a Sunday evening service to provide worship opportunities for those who cannot attend in the morning or who otherwise don’t regular attend a service.

The new service, according to information provided by church member William Johnson, will begin at 5 p.m., last one hour and often follow a nontraditional structure.
