The Livingston Parish Children’s Choirs will present their 21st annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. May 4 at Live Oak United Methodist Church, 34890 La. 16, Watson.
The concert features 120 children in three choirs, including the Apprentice Choir for students in kindergarten through second grade, the Chorus for students in grades three through 10, and the Chorale, for students in grades four through 12. The LPCC Alumni Choir also will perform.
Tickets are $5 and are available at the door, or at New Covenant Church, 215 Florida Ave. S.E, Denham Springs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays. A free nursery is provided during the concert for children under 4 years of age.
The Division of Extended Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University added web design to its Zoom into Careers junior high and high school workshops this summer.
Offered June 18-21 at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker, “Zoom into Web Design” will teach students how text, images and videos get from the Internet to computer screens.
Garrett Wheat, a career and technical instructor for Livingston Parish public schools, will help students design and construct a personal website using HTML coding and Adobe Dreamweaver. At the end of the workshop, participants will take the Adobe Dreamweaver certification exam.
The workshop is open to all seventh- through 12th-grade students. The cost is $295. Early bird registration, which includes discounts, ends Friday. Registration will continue through June 8 and is available online at http://www.southeastern.edu/zoom.
Additional Zoom into Career workshops being held on Southeastern’s main campus in Hammond, the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker and the St. Tammany Center in Mandeville include criminal justice, digital innovation, nursing, photography, television and theater. Housing will be available to high school students for the Hammond main campus workshops.
The 2012 Livingston Parish Express Summer Soccer Camp for boys and girls ages 4 to 14 will be June 25-29 at the North Park Soccer Complex in Denham Springs.
The camp will be led by an experienced staff of middle school, high school and tournament soccer coaches from Livingston Parish, organizers said.
Camp times are 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day for ages 4 to 6 and from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for ages 7 to 14. The fee for youth ages 4 to 6 is $50, and the fee for youth ages 7 to 14 is $75.
