Three more Scouts have achieved the rank of Eagle, Scouting’s highest honor.

About 5 percent of all Boy Scouts achieve the Eagle rank. To earn it, a scout must progress through six ranks, serve in a leadership position within his troop, provide service to his community and earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, of which 12 - in such areas as finance, family, citizenship and persona fitness - are required. A Scout must also plan, develop and give leadership to a service project.

Awards/activities: Attended 2010 Boy Scouts of America Jamboree and other summer camps including, Camp Orr and Camp Comer. Connor also earned the one-mile swim merit badge and held positions including den chief and chaplain aide.

Eagle Project: Completed the second stage of a prayer garden dedicated to George Charlet Jr. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic church in Clinton. He cleared a walk way, filled it with limestone and lined it with brick.

Awards/activities: Polar Bear award, Arrow of Light award, and 50 Miler award

Eagle Project: Completed a beautification project to clean and repaint all board fencing and gates at Centenary College in Jackson.

Awards/activities: Polar Bear award, Arrow of Light award, Triple Crown of High Adventure - Philmont, Seabase, Northern Tier (twice), Year Round Camping award, and 50 Miler award.

Parent: Catina Kohler and his grandmother, the late Pam Vickers who took him to all Boy Scout meetings before her recent death.

Enrichment courses offered

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is holding two high school summer enrichment programs for public or private students.

Classes are designed to help students who are failing or falling behind in courses catch up on studies and pass the necessary courses to move on to the next grade level.

The first session and courses will be held from 7:25 am. to 1:30 p.m. May 29 through June 25.

The second session and courses will be held at the same times from July 2 through July 31.

All sessions will be held at McKinley High School, 800 East McKinley St.

The maximum number of courses is one per person at a half-credit each. The cost per session is $225.

Repeat work students (those who have previously failed a course) have a different schedule.

The first and second sessions run 7:25 a.m. through 11:20 a.m. for the first period and 11:45 a.m. through 3:40 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

The first session is May 30 through June 25 and the second session is July 3 through July 30.

The fee is $150 per course, per session. The maximum number of repeat work sessions a student may take per session is two courses for one credit.

Repeat courses offered include Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, LEAP21 Math, Remediation-High School, English I, English II, English III, English IV, LEAP 21 ELA Remediation-high school, Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science, American History, Free Enterprise, Civics and World Geography.For information, contact a high school guidance counselor for pre-approval to register or call Deborah Peck in the Office of High School Programs at (225) 922-5607.

Dupré, Hulgan ace ACT

Hunter Dupré, a junior at Catholic High School, and Daniel Hulgan, a junior at Baton Rouge Magnet High School, have earned perfect scores on the ACT.

The composite score of 36, the top possible score, is typically achieved by roughly only one-tenth of 1 percent of test takers.

Dupré is the son of Michael and Kim Dupré and Robert and Renee Talbet.

Hulgan is the son of Jonathan and Sharon Hulgan.
