Staying true to my “Wingman” form, this week I bring you Buffalo Shrimp.

My first experience with this buffalo wing spin-off was in Savannah, Ga. Having lived there for five years, I developed a taste for this style of shrimp. Every Sunday after church, my family and I would do brunch either on the Savannah River or out on Tybee Island.

Our favorites were Tubby’s on the river and Fannies’s on the beach. These restaurants both had buffalo shrimp on their starters menu. After our first experience with buffalo shrimp, they became a staple with our Sunday tradition.

Coming back home to Louisiana, we searched long and hard for a local restaurant featuring our Savannah Sunday tradition. Craving crawfish one evening and remembering the best place for “dads” from our college days, we went to Sammy’s. To our surprise, we found not only the best crawfish in town, but also our Savannah favorite: buffalo shrimp. This combination of bringing buffalo sauce and Louisiana shrimp together is truly a match made in heaven. The chicken wing may have found its match.

Try these at home or drive over to Sammy’s; you will not be disappointed.
