The Hurricane Hunters from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi will investigate a tropical low south of Pensacola. As meteorologist Dave Nussbaum researched Wednesday, this low was identified by Dave as the “Ghost of Isaac.” Following Isaac’s landfall, it slowly spun north, slipped east, during which the tropical low split into two low pressure systems. One low went east while the other moved south into Alabama and now is in the Gulf of Mexico. Model runs had this system being absorbed by a cold front projected to enter the coast late Saturday evening. It has a 40 percent probability of becoming a tropical system. Should it reach storm strength, Isaac will be renamed Nadine. Hurricane Ivan returned to the Gulf in 2004, as did Katrina, which was renamed Lee.
