Pam’s Party Line for Aug. 21, 2013

Since its inception 20 years ago, Forum 35 has been working to inspire young professionals to become involved with philanthropic organizations and activities, and help make Baton Rouge “one of America’s next great cities.” On Aug. 14, the organization announced its 10th leadership class for the John W. Barton Sr. Community Leadership Development Program. The program, done in conjunction with LANO, the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, seeks to train young emerging leaders in nonprofit governance and then match them with local nonprofit organizations for service on their boards of directors.

They include Matthew Adams, Louisiana Board of Regents; Katie Barlow, The Emerge Center; Russell Blanchard, Hannis T. Bourgeois; Guy Blanchard, Dow Chemical Co.; Eric Dexter, Execupay Inc.; Karen Edward, Ducote’s Restaurant & Bar Equipment; Megan Johnson, Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center; James Klock, LSU; Adam Kurz, CSRS Inc.; Mathew Laborde, Beau Box Commercial Real Estate; Logan Leger, NewAperio; Arielle Littlepage, Vivid Ink Graphics; Patricia Manetsch, LSU Manship School of Mass Communications; and Shanna McCarty, Capital Area United Way.

Also, Larry Minor, Iberville Parish; Brendan O’Kelly, Mentorship Academy; Heather Otten, Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge; Adrian Owen, LSU Foundation; Lori Pilley, Grief Recovery Center; Kimberly Powell, Southern University; LaToria Thomas, Baton Rouge Area Foundation; Johanna Trees, Team Services; Monica Valenciano, DIG Magazine; Laura Vinsant, Teach For America; Sabrina Vutera, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources; Theodore Williams, Tiger Athletic Foundation; Jacqueline Wilson, Louisiana CASA Association; and Trimica Woodard, Staples Inc.

The program is named in honor of the late John W. Barton Sr. in recognition of his more than 75 years of support for the city’s nonprofit sector.

Items for “Pam’s Party Line” must be received by 9 a.m. the Monday preceding the run date. Digital photos should be emailed to; hard copy photos should be dropped off at or mailed to The Advocate, 7290 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70821. Events will run no later than four weeks after they have taken place. The date, place of the event and a contact name and phone number must be included. Photos may not include more than nine people and will be used on a space-available basis. Hard copy photos can be picked up in the lobby of The Advocate for up to three months after they run.
