Susan G. Komen honors outstanding volunteers
The Baton Rouge Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure recognized its outstanding volunteers at a May 5 luncheon at Lé Creole. Welcoming guests was Executive Director Janet Dewey-Kollen.
Receiving the affiliate’s Running Ribbon Award was the Gugich-Babcock team, represented by Mary Gugich, Ilana Gugich, Nolan Babcock and Steve Babcock.
Meredith Eicher, Beth DeVille, Cindy Bonfanti, Barbara Feiscia and Lauren Reeb were honored as outstanding volunteers, as were college students Tyrah Phillips, Alpha Kappa Alpha at Southern University; LSU students Kalia Pikes and Lauren Rutledge, Hannah Smitherman and the LSU Delta Kappa Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha.
St. Joseph’s Academy student Alyssa Davis was honored as the outstanding student volunteer for her four years of service.
Inducted into the 2012 class of KoMen were Phillip Syas, George Gugich, Larry Rose and Michael Sumerford.
Items for “Pam’s Party Line” must be received by 9 a.m. the Monday preceding the run date. Digital photos should be emailed to pbordelon@theadvocate.com; hard copy photos should be dropped off at or mailed to The Advocate, 7290 Bluebonnet Blvd. Events will run no later than four weeks after they have taken place. The date, place of the event and a contact name and phone number must be included. Photos may not include more than nine people and will be used on a space-available basis. Hard copy photos can be picked up in the lobby of The Advocate for up to three months after they run. By submitting photos to The Advocate, you agree that they can be published in any of The Advocate’s print or digital publications.
