I-12 repairs lead to lane closures

The right lanes on the eastbound and westbound of Interstate 12 will be closed between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Feb. 12 through Feb. 16 to allow workers to install concrete barriers and deliver materials.

Motorists are urged to use Florida Boulevard as an alternate route.

Fine Art Association

The next meeting of the Denham Springs Fine Art Association will be 7 p.m. Monday at 941 Government Drive, Denham Springs, in the Denham Springs Municipal building.

The special guest and artist will be Ferris Hotard, of Mandeville.

Ferris is a member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society.

Chamber luncheon

On Wednesday, Bill Joubert with Small Business Development will speak at the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive, Denham Springs.

The event is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $16.

Scout camping

Bass Pro Shops will host three introduction to camping classes for Girl Scouts: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday; 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 18 and a second session 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 18. Stroke screenings

Stroke and osteoporosis screenings will be available Thursday at 9559 Florida Blvd., Walker.

The First Baptist Church of Algiers will host the Life Line Screening, organizers said. Screenings take 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Pre-registration is required.

Black history film night

The Albany-Springfield Library invites all ages to see “King: Go Beyond the Dream and Discover the Man,” a History Channel documentary on the life and times of civil rights visionary the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The film goes beyond the legend to portray the man, the questions, the myths and, most importantly, the relevance of King’s message in today’s world, organizers said.

‘Swamp People’ party

Walker cousins, Austyn Yoches and Blake McDonald, are the History Channel’s newest “Swamp People” characters on Season 3, which premieres Thursday.

The public is invited to watch the first show and at Austyn and Blake’s debut party at Big Mike’s Bar & Grill, 123 Aspen Square, Denham Springs.

The party starts 7 p.m. and the show airs 8 p.m.
