Parades set to roll through Livingston
The Denham Springs Christmas Parade will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 10. The theme of this year’s event is a Star Spangled Christmas in honor of Grand Marshal Benton Thames.

Volunteers are needed to help with the parade, including walkers, float decorations and other preparations. For more information, contact the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce office at (225) 665-8155.
There will also be Christmas parades in: Walker Dec. 3; Springfield Dec. 5; Livingston Dec. 10; Albany Dec. 12; and French Settlement Dec. 17.
Children’s Choirs
The Livingston Parish Children’s Choirs will present their 21st annual Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at Live Oak United Methodist Church, 34890 La. 16, Watson.
The concert will feature the Apprentice Choir, which includes children from kindergarten through third grade; the Chorus,which includes students from fourth grade through high school, and the Chorale, the auditioned touring choir, which will be touring and singing in Italy this summer.
Tickets for the concert are $5 and are on sale during rehearsals at New Covenant Church, 215 Florida Ave., Denham Springs, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Tuesdays. A free nursery will be provided during the concert for children under 4 years old.
Food festival
The third annual Winter Wonderland Food Festival: A Taste of French Settlement will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15710 La. 16, French Settlement.
For $7 per plate, participants can select from sauce piquant, brisket and pork loin, barbecue ribs, crawfish and shrimp fettuccine, lasagna, jambalaya, hot wings and a large selection of side dishes.
The event will also feature a Christmas village, a display featuring more than 230 major pieces, including a miniature New York City, Cedar Point Amusement Park, and Walt Disney World.
More than 40 craft booths will participate.
The event will also include free activities for children, pictures with Santa for $5, a hay ride and a car show.
The Christmas Story Play will be at 4 p.m., the lighting of the St. Joseph campus at 5:30 p.m., and a large fireworks display at 6 p.m.
Christmas Crusade
Applications for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Christmas Crusade for Children will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 28, 29, 30, Dec. 1 and 2, and Dec. 5 through Dec. 9 at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Center, 29225 Woodside Drive, Walker. Applicants will need to bring the following: proof of birth for each child (0-12 years old), proof of income for the entire household, and proof of residency.
Toys will delivered Dec. 16.
The Sheriff’s Office will be collecting toys and monetary donations at both the Walker and Denham Springs Walmart stores and Bass Pro Thursday through Saturday until Dec. 10.
